Limited Collaboration Gin “YOKOHAMA” Launching December 22, 2025

■ Inspired by the “Yokohama Cocktail”

“Yokohama” is a city that has thrived on international cultural exchange since Japan opened its ports in 1859. It also holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Japan’s first bar. A cocktail bearing the city’s name, the “Yokohama Cocktail,” has been featured in global cocktail books, its recipe passed down and cherished by bartenders worldwide.

Yokohama Cocktail (1930, Savoy Cocktail Book, p.180):

• 1 Dash Absinthe
• 1/6 Grenadine
• 1/6 Vodka
• 1/3 Orange Juice
• 1/3 Dry Gin

Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.

Captivated by the idea of creating a gin that could pay homage to both the historical and cultural legacy of this cocktail, distiller Fukami from NUMBER EIGHT GIN took on the challenge—blending heritage with innovation.

■ A Modern Gin Built on Heritage and Creativity

The resulting gin draws inspiration from each component of the original cocktail:
• Juniper berries, coriander seeds, and angelica root to represent classic dry gin.
• Rye bread and bamboo charcoal as a nod to the vodka element.
• Fresh orange peel and pulp to echo the vibrant citrus.
• Wormwood (absinthe) used delicately to recreate that iconic “dash.”
• Less than 2% house-made pomegranate syrup (in line with gin production standards), symbolizing the setting sun over the harbor.

Crafted with NUMBER EIGHT GIN’s signature style of using eight botanicals, this expression is both complex and elegantly balanced. Orange takes center stage, with the other botanicals accenting its brightness. Wormwood remains a subtle undertone—just as in the original recipe—while the pomegranate adds a visual and emotional touch, reminiscent of Yokohama’s twilight skies viewed from the HAMMER HEAD distillery.

This gin is a dual homage: from the distiller’s perspective of Yokohama’s present-day skyline, and the bartender’s vision of the timeless global cocktail canon.
