Established in 1993, this winery recognized the immense potential of the Gimblett Gravels region in the central north of Hawke’s Bay, which has now gained worldwide renown as a wine-producing area. Planting Bordeaux varietals and Syrah, they achieved remarkable quality in their wines, quickly garnering attention. Particularly, their focus on Syrah, utilizing clones from the revered French Hermitage, has led to wines like “Hommage,” which is made from this unique clone and holds an exceptional status as a New Zealand icon wine.
